How to turn your bathroom into a home spa

Bedtime rituals, beauty regimens — we’ve got our wellness covered on so many levels these days, but it all feels so much easier if our environment is serene to start with. Here are 5 easy tips to bring that “spaaaah” feeling into any run-of-the-mill bathroom.

1) Make it monotone
Even if you rent, it’s easy to change the vibe of a bathroom with a lick of fresh paint or a cool peel-and-stick wallpaper in your favourite calming colour. White is an easy solution, but don’t discount happy hues like shell pink or clementine if you want to add warmth.

2)  Bring in greenery
We may not all have clawfoot bathtubs with a view onto the Italian countryside (we can dream!) but it’s easy to get that natural touch with a couple of house plants and some choice art. Pick one of the beautiful nature prints in our Bibliophile collection and let it vibe through your space.

3)  Pick a signature scent
Make your bathroom a self-care sanctuary with a scent that transports you to your happy place. Whether it’s a scented candle, a reed diffuser or a wireless steam diffuser, pick a chill aroma like eucalyptus, cedar, bergamot or lavender and let the relaxation begin.

4. Embrace the theme
Aquatic imagery makes sense for a space where water rules, and we’ve got some incredibly cool and calming art featuring seashells, oysters and pearls in our By the Sea collection. You can practically hear the whooshing waves in the background.

5. Make it moody
The enemy of chill vibes is harsh lighting. Make your mornings mellow by bringing candles into your washroom and lighting them first thing, instead of those bright overheads. Add moody art to boot, and you’ve got a better start to any day!

The woman’s pose is relaxed, with her back to the viewer, offering a glimpse of her soft curves and the gentle slope of her spine.
