Behind the Scenes of Folksy:
A Celebration of Craft and Comfort
Chipped plates, worn handles, hand-stitched quilts — we’ve brought heritage and folk art into our newest collection, Folksy.
There’s something deeply comforting about traditions and hand-me-downs. These are the well-loved pieces with stories stitched, painted and etched into them, objects passed from one generation to the next, carrying the memory of family gatherings and the homes that came before.
Folksy is our visual love letter to the art created by everyday people for everyday life. Inspired by craft festivals, keepsakes and heirlooms that stand the test of time, our artists embraced the imperfect beauty of folk art. The best part? You don’t have to raid your grandma’s attic (though that does sound fun). We’ve translated that spirit into prints that make any corner feel cozy and fall-ready — no pumpkin spice required.

Art With Soul
The collection was born from our lead designer’s love of knick-knacks and thrifted pieces. “I’ve always loved spending time in antique shops looking for unique pieces. I like to surround myself with floral teapots, framed embroidery and funky salt and pepper shakers,” says Roxanne Barbeau. “With Folksy, we wanted to capture the soul and the personality of these objects — the ones that are unique and timeless. ”
The team started by gathering inspiration from patchwork quilt patterns, archival fairytale illustrations and even flea-market ceramics. These references were reinterpreted with a contemporary eye: sketches were digitized and refined, colour palettes leaned into earthy fall tones, and every detail was chosen to spark a sense of story.

Whimsy Meets Heritage
With Folksy, minimalism has left the chat. Expect floral stems that spill across the frame, cheeky woodland creatures with personality and colourful, abundant patterns. “We love when a print feels slightly offbeat,” Barbeau adds. “It’s a reminder that beauty doesn’t have to be perfect — it just has to feel alive.” That authenticity is what makes Folk Art timeless. Its imperfections are part of the story, part of the life it carries into every home.
A cornerstone of the collection came from indie linocut block-printing artist Valerie Perreault, who also contributed to Check Please!. Her bold, tactile style brings an unmistakable hand-printed energy to Folksy. “Valerie’s work adds that storybook quality we were looking for, and the texture in her prints really brings movement and life to the collection,” says Barbeau. “It ties the collection back to traditional craft while keeping it playful and fresh.”

Come Together
At its heart, Folksy is also a nod to the simple joy of gathering: friends around a table, family baking in grandma’s kitchen, neighbours sharing a cup of tea. These prints capture that spirit of togetherness, where handmade objects and shared rituals create a warmth that lingers.
Whether you hang a mythical hare, a floral quilt print or a vintage teapot illustration, each piece in the Folksy collection tells a story. It’s art that honours heritage while celebrating the beauty of now — comforting, soulful and full of character.
